Simplicity pattern dress and tops

These are the surplice dress from pattern 6429 and 4076. Much liked patterns.
This material is from Emma One Sock. Its really a coral and brown color combination that you cant see too well in my awful pictures. Sorry
The pattern is New Look 6429 view A. I didnt make any alterations to this pattern at all. I have made this dress 3 times so far so I already know what size to use (14) and what SA to use for the best fit for me.
I am a member on PatternReview.com but I have yet to make any reviews for that site. I am a fairly new sewer and dont have much to offer yet.
I am going to try to make this blog match to that site in that I would like to give my view of sewing a pattern in the hopes that it may help another decide on size or method, etc.
So here is the start:

Pattern: New Look 6429
Size: 14
Fabric used: a wonderful soft/drapey knit from Emma One Sock here
Notions: I used pieces of the selvedge from this material as the support for the shoulder seams and I used 3/8 inch seam allowances.

Only polyester thread in needle and wooly nylon from ebay in the bobbin for the sewing machine seams. I used all wooly nylon for the serged seams in a cream color. I did baste the seams first and then serge. For the hems I used fusible seam tape that I ironed on and then double needle stitched with a 4.0 size Schmetz twin needle.
This material is rather heavy so tightened up the tension on the serger just a bit to make the seams strong. The heaviness of the material makes for a really lovely drape on this dress. As I came out of the house to go to a dance last weekend in this dress, the neighbors called over that I looked so pretty.!! A man and a woman. The whole night was that way. People I dont even know telling me how nice the dress looks. When I told them (some of them) that I made it they were amazed. I was amazed at the compliments. I am so pleased with the pattern, the materials and the whole dress thing. Wonderful

Pattern: Simplicity 4076
Size: 14
Fabric used: Microfiber jersey from Emma One Sock here
Notions: I used some clear elastic that I got from here to stop the gap that occurs on the front flap of this shirt.

I have made 4 of these tops, same view, and they have all got the gap. I really like it though. If I weren't so modest I would wear it open because it is really a gorgeous lay/drape right off the pattern. It does look nice with a cami underneath too though
I didnt make any adjustments to this pattern at all. The size 14 fits me perfectly in all areas.

Pattern: Simplicity 4076
Size: 14
Fabric used: Sage green sweater knit from Joann's
Notions: Just wooly nylon thread for serged seams and fusible seam tape for the hems.

This material is hard to sew on with the sewing machine. I did baste the seams and then serge. I wanted to use and tried to use the twin needle for hems but it didnt look right even with the tape. So I used a single stitch seam for the hems. I really love this pattern. It fits right the first time out of the package. No alterations needed for me at least.
